It has been quite a journey over the past few years. I would like to thank all those that have supported me throughout. Here, I share my story of producing an online series of articles and videos on data science.

The Beginnings

It all started off during my time at University, here a friend introduced me to the world of machine learning. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but something deeply fascinated me about the subject. I started off by completing online courses by Andrew Ng, learning the fundamentals such as linear regression and gradient descent. I thought it might be useful to teach what I learnt, not only to solidify my own understanding of machine learning concepts but as a means to help others and introduce people to this to vast world that combines mathematics, computer science and statistics.

Producing the Series

I set my mind to writing and producing one article and video every week on a data science topic. Sadly, looking back, I was unable to live up to this commitment, however managed to put together a decent amount of content. As of today I have produce 31 articles and videos on the series.

There have been many ups and downs, times where I was more motivated than others, however I found throughout this all, maintaining a positive future outlook on the series and realising the potential of such, kept me persistent enough to reach where I am today. Thank God.

Future Plans

Data science is a growing field and there is a lot of ground to cover. I am slowly making my way through some of the simpler algorithms used in data science and eventually plan to build towards more complex algorithms involved in gradient boosting and deep learning.

I plan to explain future algorithms and data science concepts with more enticing graphics, this may increase the time for production but hopefully increase the quality for you guys.

I currently work in the field of health data science and am starting to build my expertise in the subject. I am considering forming a more specialised series that looks at the applications of data science in the medical field.
